Dr Bill Kaye-Blake is Chief Economist in the Finance and Economics Consulting group at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Wellington. His specialty is applied, policy-focused research in a number of subject areas.

Bill has extensive experience with New Zealand’s agrifood sector, especially with the economic impacts of innovation. He has produced economic valuations of agricultural innovations for Crown Research Institutes and Ministries. His work also includes research with Māori organisations, regional councils, industry bodies, and rural communities.

He has spent the past ten years as part of an interdisciplinary research programme focused on rural communities. He helped develop a new framework for understanding the complexity of resilience. That work has culminated in the 2019 book Heartland Strong, which provides accessible summaries of the programme's research.
